Toei Kyoto studio park

Yes! There is a studio park in Kyoto, where everything is built to look like from the Edo period!

Well… maybe not everything… But most of it at least. They often record edo period movies here and it looks really cool! They also have some attractions like a ghost house, ninja maze, a samurai fighting show among other things.

I even got to eat edo ramen. But it tasted like normal ramen.

And I got to eat this super good shaved ice with mango! It was so good!

One of the first things I noticed though were cosplayers. Lots of them! And all seemed to cosplay from the same anime. An anime, which I have never heard of. Later I found out that there apparently was some panel with either the voice actors or maybe creators of the show. I’m not sure which. But the fans seemed to have a lot of fun. Took pictures everywhere and so on. It was a really hot day though, so I found it hard to really be envious. The thought of having to wear a thick wig in the heat…

There was a trick house, where they showed some of their tricks for movies and other fun treats.

The samurai show.

But the best thing was looking at the recreation of edo period buildings when the day was nearing its end. With most other visitors gone, it looked really cool!

The red light district. The red “cages” is where the girls sat in order to lure in the costumers. There is a great movie about the prostitutes of the edo period called “Sakuran”.
